I’ve seen that quite a number of people are looking for a way to check their BVN details, especially if they’re getting a name mismatch or date of birth mismatch while trying to link their BVN to their bank account.

I will explain to you how you can get your bvn details even without visiting the bank.

There’s currently no application to check BVN details. It can only be done by contacting the bank as the NIBSS portal is no longer available.

It’s quite painful though.

Previously, you can check your BVN details by simply visiting the NIBSS BVN validation portal, but recently, that feature is no longer available to the public.

I tried to understand the mind behind it, but I couldn’t.

Before, all you need to do is to visit the Bvn validation portal , enter your bank verification number, pay N25 and that’s it. Your bvn details will be displayed on your screen.

Right now, you can’t do that, as it’s asking for login details.

And it is their partners that have full access to their website which includes checking of bvn details.

But does it mean you can’t check your BVN details?

Of course you can, and I will explain the ways to check BVN details.

How to check bvn details

To check your BVN details, simply contact your bank and request to check your BVN details. The bank will need your bank verification number to check your BVN details.

Now, listen, it’s not a must to check your BVN details in the bank you have an account with, as you can go to any bank to check your BVN details.

If you have a friend or family member working at the bank, you can ask the person to help you check your BVN details and print it out for you.

Any bank can check your BVN details and print them out for you if you need them to do that for you.

However, you can’t just walk into a bank and request such services if you don’t have an account with them.

I’m sure they won’t listen to you unless you have an account with them.

But if you have a friend or family member working at the bank, you can request the person to help you out with your bvn details.

Another method

Another method is to contact your bank via the bank’s helpline or email address.

Every bank has a helpline and email address that you can use to reach out to the bank for a complaint or inquiry.

Mostly, I prefer to use email to reach out to the bank, unless I urgently need to contact them, in which case I will use the bank’s contact numbers.

To obtain your BVN details, simply send an email to your bank requesting assistance in verifying the accuracy of your BVN details.

All you need to do is use Gmail or any other email service to send the email.

Below is a sample of how the message should look:

Hello, good day. My name is Amaechi Amara, and I am from Imo State.

I am writing to request my BVN details as I am experiencing a mismatch with my name and date of birth when attempting to link my BVN to my bank account.

My BVN is 002211889977.

My full name is Amaechi Amarachukwu Lucy.

Date of birth is 25th December 1991.

The phone number linked to the BVN is 08068889992.

I look forward to receiving a response from the bank.

Thank you.

You should change the personal details I wrote there, such as name, state, BVN, and phone number.

Mind you, the phone number and bvn are not real.

You go ahead and send the message to your bank via email.

They will definitely respond to your request as long as you provide your name, phone number, date of birth, and most importantly, your bank verification number.

So, if you don’t feel like contacting your bank through their helpline, then simply use the bank’s email address, and they will get back to you.

I do pray that people will have access to the NIBSS portal so as to check their BVN details because for me it is way better, though it will cost a fee, but the fee won’t be much.

Asking how can I check my BVN details? Simply contact your bank and they will issue your BVN details to you.

If you have your account officer’s phone number, reach out to him or her and I’m sure he or she will help you out.

How to check bvn details online

To check bvn details online, contact your bank via WhatsApp or through the bank’s chat platform and request that they send your BVN details to your email address.

The likes of Gtbank have a WhatsApp number that you can use to contact them, and it works well, though it’s time-consuming.

It can take up to 30 minutes or 1 hour before they reply to your chat message.

But when they finally reply, they are very helpful.

Going back to the topic of the day, app to check bvn details is not available including the NIBSS bvn validation portal, you can only contact your bank and request for full details of your bvn.
