To fund gtbank dollar card, you need to do the followings;

1. Open gtbank mobile app or internet banking and login.
2. Tap on transfer and select own transfer.
3. Tap on your gtbank domiciliary account number & dollar card account number, and enter the amount you want to transfer.
4. Hit on the submit button and that’s it.

Here’s what you need to know about gtbank dollar card.

• Gtbank dollar card has it separate account, and account number.
• You must have a domiciliary account before you can request for a dollar card.
• When you must have created your domiciliary account and dollar card account, you need to link the two accounts to your online banking account.
• Funding of gtbank dollar card is easy with gtbank internet banking or mobile banking app.
• You can fund your gtbank dollar card account by transfer from your domiciliary account or direct deposit using the bank counter.
• Once you funded your gtbank dollar card account, you can’t transfer the money back to your domiciliary account.

1. Domiciliary account is a must

2. It has a seperate account

This is one feature I love about gtbank dollar card, it has a seperate account which includes an account number.

Due to this, you need to fund the dollar card anytime you want to use the card for online payment.

This means that you will have gtbank naira account number, domiciliary account number, and dollar card account number.

If you go ahead and open a euro account, and request for a euro card, it will be naira account number, dollar domiciliary account number, dollar card account number, euro Dom account number, and Euro card account number.

3. Link to your online banking account

To easily find your dollar card account, you need to link the account number to your online banking account.

This can only be done right inside the bank.

So all you need to do is to walk to the bank customer service representative, and request that you want to link your domiciliary account and dollar card account to your online banking account.

This will not take more than five minutes for the bank customer service representative to do for you, and within few minutes or 30 minutes, it should reflect on your online banking account.

You can use gtbank mobile app or internet banking to see if the three accounts are showing on your profile.

All the three accounts you’re seeing right there are gtbank naira account, domiciliary account, and dollar card account all linked to my gtbank online banking account.

This will help for easy transfer of funds from the domiciliary account to the dollar card account.

If you don’t have a gtbank internet banking account or online banking account, please go create one. Simply download the app from play store or appstore, and you’re good to go.

Make sure to have your debit card or atm card ready for the online banking account creation.

4. Fund your dollar card account

Once you have linked your domiciliary account and dollar card account to your online banking account, then you can easily find your card.

All you need to do is to open gtworld or the old gtbank app which is still working as at the time of writing this post, tap on transfer, and select TO OWN Accounts if you’re using the old gtbank app as shown below.

If you’re using the gtworld app, on the homescreen simply tap on Transfers as shown below.

On the next screen tap on Send between own accounts as shown below.

Now what you have to do is to select the receiving account which is the dollar card account, and tap on the account you’re transferring the money from, which is domiciliary account.

Enter the amount you want to fund, and finally hit on the submit button.

That’s it.

No pin or hardware token is required here.

Within a second you will see the fund in your dollar card account.

This is the best method to fund gtbank dollar card, by simply using gtbank mobile app and to transfer money from domiciliary account to your dollar card account.

Internet banking is very good and easy, but I prefer mobile app because I can easily fund my dollar card anywhere and any given time as long as I have an active internet connection.

Gtbank internet banking interface is good on computer compared to phone and tablet.

Not very often I carry my laptop about.

5. Direct funding

This involves going to the bank will cash, and depositing it into your dollar debit card account.

I don’t fancy this at all because it requires me going to the black market sellers, buying dollars from them, and depositing it into my dollar card account.

Remember, this is done on the bank counter or probably their FX section.

Please note this;

If you transfer funds or money from your gtbank domiciliary account to your dollar card account, you can’t transfer the money back to your domiciliary account. And also, you can’t withdraw money from your dollar card account.

This is quite painful as it happened to me.

I transferred $100 instead of $10 to my dollar card account, and when I tried to transfer $90 back to my d account, it didn’t work.

I had to go to the bank and was told the money will remain there.

I went crazy that day.

So be very cautious and careful when moving fund from your domiciliary account to your dollar card account.

Can I fund my dollar card with Naira?

No, you can’t fund your dollar card with naira except for dollar.

You can’t even fund your dollar card account with euro or pounds. As it says dollar, it only works with dollar.
