The best way to check a domiciliary account in Nigeria is by using bank mobile app or internet banking to check your Dom account.

Before I proceed, so far it is not possible to check your domiciliary account balance using the bank ussd code or the transfer code as we usually call it.

That is not possible and the only best means and most convenient is to use your bank mobile app or internet banking account.

Right now, before you can open a domiciliary account in Nigeria, the bank will request that you should open a naira savings account or current account with them.

Almost all banks in Nigeria do this.

This is for those that wants to open a domiciliary account with a bank but don’t have a naira account with them.

Once you have a naira account with the bank, you ought to enroll for the bank mobile banking or internet banking.

If you don’t fancy going to the bank, I recommend you to enroll for mobile banking and it only requires you to download your bank mobile app and get registered.

However, you can still register for internet as it is quite essential and helpful incase the bank mobile app start to misbehave.

Most Nigerian bank mobile banking apps misbehave a lot and not to be trusted especially in the night.

So I recommend you to open the two or maybe mobile banking.

Once you have done that, has gotten your domiciliary account number, you have to link your domiciliary account number to your other existing naira account.

That is, if you used your naira account number to enroll for mobile banking app or internet banking.

Getting Started

To link your domiciliary account number to your other naira account, you need to visit the bank.

Move straight to the customer service representative and request that you want to link your domiciliary account to your naira savings account.

This will not take more than five minutes for the bank customer service representative to do it.

And it will not take more than fifteen minutes for you to see your domiciliary account number in your bank mobile app.

Now after the bank customer service representative has linked you dom account to your other naira account, what you have to do is to open your bank mobile app.

Looking at the above picture, you will see that it showed Acc 1 of 3 which indicates that I have three account numbers linked to my bank mobile app.

The three accounts are my gtbank naira account, domiciliary account number and dollar account number.

As naira debit card is connected with naira account, the case is quite different on domiciliary account.

The dollar debit card is not connected to the domiciliary account but rather on its own though before you can own a dollar debit card, Euro card or pounds debit card, you must have a domiciliary account.

If you want to make payment online using the dollar debit card you have to transfer funds from your domiciliary account to the dollar debit card account number.

You can also fund the dollar debit card through transfer from other domiciliary accounts, or through cash deposit.

Talking about how to check a domiciliary account balance, once you have linked your domiciliary account number to your existing naira account, you can easily view your Dom account balance by opening the mobile banking app or the internet banking.

Domiciliary Account Do Support Mobile Banking App

Yes, you heard me.

If your bank doesn’t neccesarily need you to open a naira account before opening a domiciliary account with them, you can also enroll for mobile banking using your Dom account.

All banks do support this.

This may require you to have a dollar debit card, Euro debit card or Pounds debit card, or probably have a hardware token to enroll for the mobile banking app.

Once you are opening a domiciliary account in any bank, please make a proper inquiry and this includes asking if the bank support mobile banking app for their domiciliary account.

For Example.

Zenith bank offers two types of domiciliary account, one is cash domiciliary account, while the other is Ordinary domiciliary account.

In cash domiciliary account, there’s no provision for a mobile banking app and you can’t transfer money from the account.

Everything about the account is cash transaction.

While the ordinary domiciliary account do feature mobile banking app and transfer is available.

This also goes to the the likes of first domiciliary account.

So please try to know if the domiciliary account you’re opening offers mobile or internet banking, and the option to transfer money.

Right now, to withdraw cash from a domiciliary account is very problematic as banks claim that there’s no fund.

The only means is transfer.

In a situation whereby you only operate cash domiciliary account, it means you can’t withdraw your money or probably get a maximum of $100 per day.

Check Domiciliary Account By Going To The Bank

This is the last option you have to check your domiciliary account, by simply going to the bank.

All you need to do is to head over to the bank, speak with the customer service representative and request you want to check your domiciliary account balance.

They will request for your name and phone number, and from there, they will let you know your Dom account balance.

Remember to go with an ID if the case may be.

But the best option you have is to use the bank mobile banking app or internet banking as you can conveniently check your domiciliary account balance at any given moment as long as you have an active internet connection on your phone or computer.
